CHIPS-GOLF V 1.0
Chips Golf is an online golf game where the caller may play 9 or 18
holes of golf.
The caller must have an ANSI compatible terminal to play this game.
All game options are selectable from the main menu's by entering the
desired number or letter from that menu.
Club selections are displayed on the users screen in the lower left
of the menu. Any club may be selected for any location on the golf
course.
Percentage of power is selected by typeing the number value of the
perctentage of power you wish to swing the club. If you want to hit
the ball at 50% power, you simply type 50 <enter> an the computer will
calculate the distance of your shot based on that value. The player
can select 100% power by hitting the ENTER key without specifying a
power level. A power of 0% will default to a 20% power swing.
Shot calculations are based on standard projectile formula's (remember
the old howitzer game), with variances for wind speed and direction
factored in. A shot for any given club will vary slightly due to
wind speed and wind direction, but will generally be of similar distance.
When calculating a percentage of power, your shot distance is not
linear. In other words, if a club hits the ball 220 yards at 100%
power, going to 50% power will NOT yield a shot of 110 yards.
This is a function of the rate of travel in ft/sec the ball obtains
at different power settings. You will have to learn the ratio's of the
clubs vs their power levels if you want to hit shots accurately.
If for some reason the main game menu becomes corrupted, you can redraw
the screen by hitting "R" at the club selection prompt.
You may view your current score card by selecting "V" at the club
selection prompt.
You may not take "mulligan's" on any shot.
Player rankings are based on the amount of money earned for each round
of golf.
At the completion of each round of golf, you will earn $100 for every
shot under par you were for that round. Any round completed at or over
par will result in $ 0.00 being earned. On a par 35, 9 hole round, a
score of 30 will earn the player $500.00 dollars. The top money winners
are displayed at the end of each round and is also selectable from the
main menu for viewing.
It should be noted that playing 18 holes instead of 9 holes yields a
greater potential for winning money.
If you elect to quit a game in progress, it will not save your current
position. You must start a new round to return to play.
Enjoy the game.
